Drinking Water Chlorophyll Sensor | Low-Range Fluorescence Chlorophyll-a Probe
This drinking water chlorophyll sensor is specially designed for source water, reservoir and drinking water treatment systems. It uses high-sensitivity fluorescence detection (470nm excitation / 685nm emission) to monitor low-concentration chlorophyll-a in real time. It features ultra-low detection limit, fast response, no reagents, IP68 waterproof and RS485 Modbus-RTU output, providing early warning for algae blooms and ensuring drinking water safety.


This drinking water chlorophyll sensor is an ultra-low-range online optical probe dedicated to chlorophyll-a monitoring in drinking water sources and treatment plants. It operates on the high-sensitivity fluorescence spectroscopy principle: a stable blue LED (470nm) excites chlorophyll-a in algae cells, which emits red fluorescence (685nm). The fluorescence intensity is directly proportional to chlorophyll-a concentration, enabling accurate detection at very low levels critical for drinking water safety.
The optical system uses a high-stability UV-enhanced LED and ultra-low-noise photodetector, with a sapphire optical window and anti-biofouling coating to resist contamination and biofilm growth. A built-in temperature sensor provides automatic temperature compensation (ATC) across 0–50°C to correct measurement drift caused by temperature changes. The probe features digital signal processing and electrical isolation for strong anti-interference performance, supporting reliable long-distance transmission via RS485 Modbus-RTU.
The housing is constructed from food-grade / corrosion-resistant PPS/PEEK and 316L stainless steel, suitable for long-term submerged installation in source water, intake pipes, sedimentation tanks and filter influent. It supports factory calibration and field verification, with data storage, fault self-diagnosis and optional self-cleaning functions. It is ideal for early warning of algal blooms, source water quality management and drinking water safety assurance.
