UV254 COD Sensor | Online UV Absorption COD Probe
This industrial UV254 COD sensor uses the direct UV absorption principle at 254 nm to measure organic pollution in water in real time. It requires no reagents, no digestion, and features fast response, low drift, and IP68 waterproofing. With RS485 ModbusRTU output and builtin temperature compensation, it is widely used in surface water, municipal wastewater, industrial effluent, and process water monitoring, and can be directly connected to PLC, DCS, and MTW series controllers.

This UV254 COD sensor is an online optical probe for real-time monitoring of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and UV-absorbing organics in water. It operates on the UV absorption spectroscopy principle at 254 nm, where organic compounds strongly absorb UV light at this wavelength, enabling direct correlation with COD/TOC values. The method is reagent-free and digestion-free, providing real-time readings in seconds and greatly reducing operating costs and environmental impact.
The optical system uses a stable UV light source and high-precision detector, with a sapphire optical window and anti-fouling coating to resist contamination and maintain long-term stability. A built-in temperature sensor provides automatic temperature compensation (ATC) across 0–60°C to correct drift caused by temperature changes. The probe features digital signal processing and electrical isolation for strong anti-interference performance, supporting reliable long-distance transmission via RS485 Modbus-RTU.
The housing is constructed from corrosion-resistant PPS/PEEK and 316L stainless steel, suitable for long-term submerged or pipeline installation. It supports calibration with standard solutions (e.g., potassium hydrogen phthalate) and includes data storage, fault self-diagnosis, and optional self-cleaning functions. It is ideal for continuous organic pollution monitoring, effluent compliance control, and process optimization.
